The perfect fusion of Art Deco and functionality

Márta Gervai-Szekeres' graduation project

Introduction

My name is Márta Gervai-Szekeres. In addition to my degrees in cultural organization and human resources consulting, my love for interior design and passion for aesthetics have accompanied me throughout my life. However, it is only now that I have obtained my professional qualification as an interior designer. As an interior designer, my goal is to realize the dreams of my clients by taking their needs into full consideration when designing their homes. I aim for a harmonious, functional space that is also full of character, color, inspiration, and relaxation - not necessarily following trends, but rather timeless, unique, and refined. The language of an interior designer is drawing, so I create the envisioned spaces, wall views, and visualizations for my clients through both hand-drawn sketches and by using the ARCHLine.XP software.

Project description:

The final task of my interior design course was to design and create a graduation project for a nearly 400 m² two-story family home. The project involved the interior layout and furnishing of a two-story building, suitable for both residential and service functions, designed for a family of four. It was a highly complex project, utilizing all the knowledge I had acquired (interior design and the use of the ARCHLine program). I chose modern Art Deco as the style for the living space, and I trust it will appear as a truly elegant, dramatic interior that evokes a sense of luxury. The design studio located on the upper floor reflects my personal style - bright, fresh, airy, and colorful spaces, as well as unique designer furniture, which I placed in an environment that inspires me as a designer.

In my interpretation, the contemporary version of Art Deco is realized in the following ways in the planned interior: noble materials, unique furniture, wallpapers, fine-quality upholstery, geometric and curved shapes, vivid and pure colors, as well as the use of metallic tones.
