CasaLines – A Harmonious Home of Arches and Lines
Designer: Nóra Henczi
Winner of the Audience Award at LOSZ (National Association of Interior Designers in Hungary) Interior Designer of the Year Competition
As the title suggests, with CasaLines, I aimed to create an interior space where arches, lines, colors, shapes, and materials come together in such harmony that one can feel at home not only in the private area but also in the pilates studio.
The apartment belongs to a young couple in their thirties, who wanted to design one part of the property as a spacious, harmonious, and relaxing home where they can host their friends for dinner parties paired with wine tastings. In the other part of the house—accessible through a separate entrance—the wife’s dream comes true: her own cozy pilates studio.
During the design process, I kept the couple's needs in mind, shaping the private, communal, and business areas to be spacious, bright, and modern, yet still warm and welcoming.
The communal area is essentially a single open space, allowing the host preparing dinner in the kitchen, guests enjoying appetizers in the dining area, and others sipping wine in the living room to all interact comfortably.
The private zone is made special by the glass-walled shower, which, thanks to smart film technology, can be turned opaque in seconds when more privacy is desired.
Though the business area has a separate entrance, it is also easily accessible from the residential section through frameless doors that open in both directions.
The laundry room, serving both the pilates studio and the couple’s home, is cleverly hidden in a built-in cabinet behind the reception counter in the entrance area. The door slides beside the cabinet body for easy access to the machines. Since the machines are used only outside studio hours, they do not disturb the space’s aesthetic or acoustic harmony.
When defining the interior style, it was important to align with the building’s façade: the anthracite-colored windows and the terracotta tones of the brick cladding became dominant elements, which I softened with earthy colors and natural materials to create a more homely feel.
As the name suggests, CasaLines merges the strong, angular lines of the dark doors and windows with the soft, arched shapes and warm tones inside the space.
